This procedure is practically a routine. Every removal should have a reason. Of course, a naevus may be removed also for simple cosmetic reasons.
Course of the procedure
The procedure is performed in local anaesthesia. After anaesthetizing the surrounding area is the naevus circumcised and cut wedge wise. Then follows hemostasis of usually mild bleeding and suture of the surgical wound with separated monofilamentous sutures or intra-dermal suture (cosmetic) according to the size, localisation and desire of the patient. The procedure is completed by treatment and additional disinfection of the surgical area and covering the wound with dressing. Sutures are removed usually in 8 – 14 days.
